Knowing Islam

Knowing Islam
Bismillah
How will we understand Islam?
Ans: From Holy Quran and Sunnah
Do they speak for themselves literally?
Ans: No
Why?
Ans: If they did we would not need Holy Prophet (saas)
Is Holy Prophet (saas) an Authority?
Ans: Yes, without a doubt, because belief in him and his Sunnah is part of faith
Who taught Islam at first?
Ans: Angel Gabriel (a) to Holy Prophet by command of Allah
Who taught it to men?
Ans: Holy Prophet (saas)
In his absence who will teach us?
Ans: Those who are known as Ulemas, i.e. scholars of Islam who are Muslims
Can they disagree?
Ans: yes they can because they are not innocent, and people vary according to understanding and ability of their mind
So if they vary that will mean Islamic understanding will vary too?
Ans: yes and that is why there have risen disagreements in Islam's understanding
Can these be solved?
Ans: Some can and some cannot be
How to know which is right and which is not?
Ans: we are not beast with a cow's brain. We are humans, who can think and reason, so the way to know Islam is to know what it speaks, and it speaks of Arabic language so, first necessity is Arabic language, and then Islamic history and intellect. The wrongs will be corrected, and that which can't be is left hung to be judged by Allah.
So disagreement is permissible in Islam about Islam?
Ans: Disagreement for sake of disagreement is not but disagreement which comes out while solving an issue or finding an Islamic answer cannot be halted, but efforts are given to minimize such.
Did the scholars of the tradition done so?
Ans: yes they did, and they must be respected, because Allah commands us to follow them in matters of religion and religious guidance in the absence of holy Prophet (saas).
Do disagreements cause sects?
Ans: Sometimes when the margin is a lot.
Is secting anti-islamic?
Ans: Yes and only then when you give a new meaning to Islam which is not supported by Islam, or which changes Islam essentially.
Note: When I say Arabic language, history and intellect then it includes all the traditional Islamic sciences.
